Fodder wheat (BQG 2) - beardless wheat

The fodder wheat variety ETHAN was registered into the Austrian Variety List in December 2020 due to its extraordinary performance. ETHAN is suitable for cultivation in all growing regions and can also be used as an interesting alternative for ethanol wheat production in arid environments, although the main growing regions of ETHAN will certainly be Styria and the pre-alpine regions of Austria. When compared to most rival fodder wheat varieties, ETHAN shows considerably earlier maturity and is also characterized by balanced and favorable development of mildew (APS 3), yellow rust (APS 2) and Septoria tritici (APS 4) resistance. ETHAN only shows slightly higher susceptibility to late onset brown rust infections. However, since high-yielding wheat cultivation demands an efficient fungicide management with an emphasis on head protection, a slightly increased brown rust susceptibility is nothing to worry about anyways.
