ETHAN

This nitrogen-efficient feed wheat is suitable for cultivation in all domestic growing regions and is also an attractive alternative for ethanol wheat production. However, ETHAN is primarily grown at breeding stations in the Alpine foothills and Styria. Compared to most other feed wheat varieties, ETHAN matures significantly earlier. It exhibits a favorable level of resistance to the leaf diseases powdery mildew, yellow rust, and Septoria tritici. ETHAN is only slightly more susceptible to brown rust infections, which occur later in the season. However, since fungicide management for high-yielding wheat varieties is specifically geared toward ear protection, the higher susceptibility to brown rust does not have a negative impact in practice.
