This sturdy pistillate wheat remains ideally suited for medium- to high-quality soils in arid regions and for all locations in humid regions. This classic single-spike variety achieves its best yields at below-average plant densities. Its good baking quality should be ensured in quality production by applying at least 60 to 70 kg/ha of quality fertilizer. Since 2018, LUDWIG has shown greater tolerance to infection by new strains of brown rust than its classification would suggest. Outside of quality wheat production, LUDWIG is the variety of choice for whole-plant utilization (GPS), particularly in Southern Europe, and thus also serves as an alternative feedstock for local biogas plants.
