With AMALIA, a yellow mottle-tolerant variety is now available for the first time among two-row varieties. However, the value of this new variety should by no means be reduced solely to its resistance to the virus. AMALIA matures significantly earlier than most established two-row varieties, has sufficient lodging resistance, and is highly tolerant to dwarf rust and net blotch infections. With an APS rating of 6 for Ramularia leaf spot, it ranks among the healthiest two-row varieties in the domestic portfolio, alongside EUFEMIA. In addition to above-average yield performance across all regions, AMALIA also excels with excellent nitrogen efficiency, high grain quality, and satisfactory hectoliter weights on par with the main variety BIANCA. Thanks to its optimal combination of leaf health and tolerance to yellow dwarf disease, AMALIA is naturally well-suited for organic winter barley production.
