KWS DONAU

Two-rowed winter malting barley

KWS DONAU is a high-yielding winter barley variety with excellent malting qualities. During its test phase from 2016-2018, KWS DONAU was able to clearly outperform all previous main varieties in both yield and sieving grade >2,5 mm. Agronomically, KWS DONAU shows slight improvements to the previous main variety KWS Scala in terms of stability and Rynchosporium tolerance. When compared to other similar barley varieties, the earlier maturity of KWS DONAU can be seen as a substantial advantage in the main barley production areas. KWS DONAU is known for delivering bright malt with favorable beta glucan, extract content and friability parameters. Regarding protein content, KWS DONAU is on the same level as KWS Scala.
