CAPO

Premium wheat (BQG 7) - bearded wheat

A significant and stable player since 1989

The “emperor” of our local wheat varieties has been the most important pillar of the Austrian premium wheat production, not only because of its excellent yield stability. A particularly low seed strength has to be chosen for CAPO because of its intensive tillering capacity. The best experiences were made with strengths of 280 to 330 germinable grains/m2, which relates to at least 120kg/ha (please refer to the seed strength chart). Under organic growing conditions, CAPO still clearly outperforms rivals similar to CAPO, which makes it the most cultivated organic wheat variety in Austria. But CAPO is also very suitable for medium and weaker production areas as it still delivers reliable yields under very dry conditions, as it was the case in spring of 2020.
