CARIOCA

Multi-rowed winter barley - fodder barley

CARIOCA, the new variety by Probstdorfer Saatzucht, is a very productive multi-rowed winter barley variety suitable for cultivation in all winter barley regions. In a three-year long trial in both the arid and humid areas of Austria, CARIOCA was able to clearly outperform all rival varieties in comparison – except for JOURNEY. CARIOCA combines medium-early head development with intermediate maturity. Moreover, CARIOCA shows decent stability, which makes it less susceptible to stem rupture at overripeness. The variety also shows predominantly positive resistances to leaf diseases, with only slightly higher mildew susceptibility (APS 6). The thoroughly positive impression of CARIOCA is rounded off by good grain development. The hectoliter weight is similar to the average of multi-rowed varieties.
